Palm Cove is an area of great beauty in Cairns, and the Peppers Beach Club stands out as one of the best hotels to stay at. From infinity pools to 24 hour room service, you’ll rarely have to lift a finger at this resort, and that is exactly what the doctor ordered if you’re looking to get away from it all. Surrounded by leafy rainforest, and with easy access to the beach, Peppers Beach Club and Spa exceed all expectations, especially when it comes to the rooms, which all have private balconies and air conditioning.

Although somewhat overpriced, the view out into the ocean from the Shangri Hotel is unmatched in all of Cairns. The waterfront setting is spectacular, and you’ll find it hard to check out after waking up to golden sands and peaceful waves every morning. Continuously voted as one of the best places to stay in the city, the 5-star Shangri Hotel excels luxury, with amazing spa and gym facilities open 24 hours. You’ll also have your own personal butler if you rent out one of the suites!

There’s a charm to this hotel that is encouraged by the surrounding tropical woodland, and with all rooms benefitting from private balconies, air conditioning, fridges and satellite television, you’ll have everything you need to stay in Cairns for the long-haul. There’s a great restaurant right by the pool too for those nights you just want to relax.

Discovery Cairns

Having recently undergone a massive refurbishment, this hotel has been taken from the grasp of ruin and transformed into one of the best in the city. Thankfully, the prices haven’t skyrocketed after the makeover, so if you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful place to stay with your family whilst visiting the east coast, then this is the place for you.

My husband and I are planning a long trip to Australia and New Zealand next year and hadn’t even considered Cairns. It would be a great mid-trip stop to take a break from the fast touring we will be doing.
